Weddings can be SO expensive and they really don’t have to be.  I was married at 21, we were still in college without jobs, but we were able to have a beautiful and elegant money for very little money!

Here are my tops 5 tips for How to Save on a Wedding Dress:

  1. Shop the $99.00 Sale at David’s Bridal.  I was able to get a beautiful wedding dress for $99.00 for my wedding off this rack and then spend money on a veil to dress it up a bit.
  2. Purchase your wedding gown gently used from websites like and  You can purchase once worm wedding dresses or sometimes new ones for a fraction of the cost.  You can also turn around and sell the dress once you have worn it to make some of your money back.
  3. Check out when stores are offering sample sales – these are normally sold as is but are at a discounted price.  They will sell the samples that you can find on the racks when that dress becomes discontinued, you can usually get some fantastic deals!
  4. Wear a hand me down dress that you can borrow from a friend, sibling, or mom.  You can change it up by adding some gems or ribbon.
  5. After you have found the perfect dress, get quotes from an external seamstress.  You can usually save  money by hiring your own seamstress to hem your dress, instead of paying for the seamstress at the bridal salon.

The most important part of that day is that you leave the event married and happy!  We all want our wedding days to be the one of our dreams, but that doesn’t mean we have to spend a lot of money on them.
