How to get wine out of carpet

Are you looking for a way to get wine stains out of your carpet?  One tip – do NOT use warm water, this makes the stain grow. When cleaning up wine, always use cold water at first. Here are a few quick and easy ways to get it out with things already around your home!

1.) Hydrogen Peroxide method:

  • Make a solution with 1/2 Hydrogen Peroxide and 1/2 Dish soap (please do a test area to make sure that this doesn’t stain your carpet).
  • Blot the stain with this solution.
  • Spray using a spray bottle with a solution of cold water and a few drops of dish soap.
  • Blot again with a clean towel.
  • Grab a fresh wet room temperature rag – and blot until stain is gone.
  • Cover the stain with a fresh clean cloth, set some books on top of the cloth to add some weight. This will force whatever’s left of the stain or solution to transfer to the cloth.
  • Vacuum when done.

2.) Baking soda method:

  • Blot out excess liquid.
  • Poor cold water on the stain.
  • Mix a solution with 1 part Baking Soda to 3 parts water. Mix up and apply to the stain.
  • This will be a thick paste so you will not be able to see the stain if it is disappearing.
  • Let sit for 3-4 hours.  Check a test area to make sure it is gone before removing it all.
  • Vacuum up once it is all dry and the stain is removed.

Let me know if you have any other methods of removing wine from your carpets!  I would love to hear other ways!
