How to Earn Money with VIPKid

    Q: What is VIPKid?

VIPKid is an online tutoring company that connects students living in China with English speakers around the world. Their focus is to teach English to kids ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old.

If you’re wondering if VIPKid is legit, you can bet it is. The online platform connects over 600,000 Chinese students to 70,000 teachers

Relying on technology, lessons are taught through one-on-one sessions in a virtual classroom. The platform is fully immersive, meaning the classes are done completely in English. You don’t have to know any Chinese.

Teaching English is an excellent side hustle opportunity. You can set your own hours and work around a full-time job or other commitments. Since VIPKid does all the lesson planning for you, your only obligation is to log in to the virtual classroom at the scheduled time.

Q: How Much Can You Make with VIPKid? How to earn with VIPKID?

To make a side hustle worthwhile, you have to make a decent income. Otherwise, it can feel like you’re wasting your time.

With VIPKid, you earn up to $22 an hour. That’s a pretty good amount considering you’re working from home and aren’t required to have any teaching credentials.

Your pay depends on a few things. First, each 30-minute lesson pays a minimum of $7 to $9. Incentives are in place to boost your pay a little higher. VIPKid can pay $1 if you show up on time. Another $1 is given for each class that you finish according to the lesson plan.

This equals $7 to $11 per 30-minute class, or $14 to $22 an hour.

The downside is you only get paid once per month. But there’s no need to hassle with a check since they use direct bank deposit.

The pay is superb for a work at home job. For example, let’s say you teach an hour each morning before the kids get up for school. If you show up on time and complete each lesson, you can earn an extra $440 in one month.

If you also pick up a two-hour block on Saturdays, your monthly earnings could be more than $600.

Could you imagine having an extra $600 in your pocket from a part-time side hustle at the end of the month?

Q: How Do I Get Started with VIPKid?

VIPKid is a great opportunity to make some cash without sacrificing a lot of your free time. You don’t need experience teaching, but the company requires you to have at least a Bachelor’s degree. It doesn’t matter what your degree is in, so long as you have one.

You also need a computer with a reliable internet connection and a headset with a microphone to communicate with your students. Of course, a quiet place to teach from makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone.

As part of your application, you’ll show your teaching skills by recording a demo lesson on your own time. But don’t worry – VIPKid has several videos to walk you through the process and will show you what a full-length class looks like so you’re prepared.

Once you pass the interview and sign your contract, you become a VIPKid teacher and can sign up for timeslots that fit your schedule.

The platform takes care of scheduling your classes and preparing lesson plans. You arrive in the online classroom for the time you signed up for to start your lesson with your student.

Q: How do I Maximize My Earnings with VIPKid?

Making $22 an hour with a side hustle doing what you love is a sweet deal. But there are a few ways to increase your earnings.

VIPKid pays an extra $2 for any lesson that’s booked within 24 hours of the start time. For instance, if you decided on Monday morning to open up a timeslot for Tuesday morning and VIPKid finds a student to fill that spot, they’d pay you an extra $2. This tip could increase your pay to $26 an hour.

If you’ve worked with children before you know they love props. Pick up some finger puppets, flashcards, plastic magnet letters, a teddy bear, or a whiteboard with markers to make the class more exciting. Because the better your class, the more likely you are to fill up your timeslots and earn more money.

Starting a side hustle teaching English to kids online is a great opportunity to cash in on your love of children. If you have a few hours a week, VIPKid could be the perfect opportunity to boost your income and pay off debt or finally take that vacation you’ve been wanting.

  • I have friends and family who worked for VIPKid and their main complaint was only half the pay if a student misses the class even though they have to be there the entire time! I work for a different company that pays the entire amount when the student misses.

    • Its only half pay if a trial student doesn’t show, and you only stay 15 minutes. If a regular student doesnt show, you get full pay, but you stay for the whole 25 minutes. I’ve worked with them for 2.5 years, and that has always been the policy.

  • VIPKid lessons are 25 minutes, not 30. For teaching 30-44 classes a month you get $.50, you dont get that second dollar until you teach 45 classes a month. You can also now get paid every week. There is also new policy where they only want people to try and recruit people they know. Especially because a lot of new hires are having a difficult time getting bookings.
