We’ve all been there.

You want… no… NEED a date night out, away from the business of life, but you don’t have the money!

Well, you’ve come to the right place! These date night ideas are all FREE! They might not be what you’re used to, but that can be fun! One thing I know for sure: I remember more experiences I shared with my husband than what I ate for dinner at that restaurant 6 date-nights ago.

So, eat a PB&J for dinner and head out for something different on your next date night!

23 FREE Fun Date Night ideas

  1. Swap babysitting with a friend = free babysitting!   You do one day a month – your friend does one day a month!
  2. If you live near an outside amphitheater, pack a picnic and blanket and go sit outside of the fence and listen to the music without having to pay.
  3. Take a walk in the park.
  4. Lay in a field and watch the stars, locate all the zodiac signs.
  5. Rent a Free Redbox Movie with the code DVDonme – make something for dinner at home together and watch a movie.
  6. Go on a bike ride (borrow bikes from friends if you don’t have them).
  7. Borrow kayak’s or a canoe from a friend and go paddling in the river!
  8. Watch the sunset together.
  9. Take a tour of a winery or brewery.
  10. Find out which museums in your area have free admission days, then go to the museums on these days for FREE.
  11. Go on an easy day hike together – pack food that you already have at home and bring your own water.
  12. Go to the park and play frisbee.
  13. Volunteer together, offer to help at your church’s work day or at your local food bank.
  14. Go sledding together.
  15. Create a Scavenger Hunt around the city that you fell in love, including places that are memorable to you.
  16. Walk around a farmer’s market – many of them have free entertainment so you can enjoy a free concert.
  17. Have a romantic candlelight dinner at home.  Dress up in nice clothes and after the kids go to bed turn on some romantic music and cook dinner together in candlelight.
  18. Have a game night together.
  19. Go to the library together to rent a free movie, or get a book and read it out loud to eat other.
  20. Rent a bird book at the library and go look for birds in the book.
  21. Write each other love notes and spend the night reading them.
  22. Pack a thermos of hot coffee, park your car with some music on, and talk for a few hours about your future.
  23. Check out your local seasonal festivals – they are usually free to enter and have entertainment.  My local fall festival is always a great time and it’s FREE!
